We proudly announce our support for Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust (AFCCT) as our chosen charity of the year. AFCCT, the partner charity of Aberdeen Football Club, has been transforming lives since 2014 through its commitment to education, health, and wellbeing in the Northeast of Scotland. Their inspiring mission, "to provide support and opportunity to change lives for the better," perfectly aligns with our values, making them a natural choice for our charity partnership this year.

About AFCCT: Creating Opportunities and Changing Lives

AFCCT works with people of all ages and backgrounds to maximise the potential of communities while improving physical and mental wellbeing. Through innovative programmes, they empower individuals, especially young people, by enhancing education, promoting health, and encouraging participation in football. The Trust also actively works to combat poverty and inequality, ensuring a brighter future for those it serves.

Their initiatives reflect a complete approach to community support, encompassing everything from school-based STEM education to dementia-friendly activities. For active ageing participants, they offer health walks and Technogym sessions to promote physical wellbeing. Family-oriented programmes like Dons Families Together provide a supportive space for families facing challenging times, offering respite and guidance on managing home life.

Our Charity Committee’s Visit to the Pittodrie Community Hub

To deepen our understanding of AFCCT’s impact, our charity committee recently visited the Pittodrie Community Hub initiative, which operates every Thursday from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm, regularly welcoming over 50 attendees. This welcoming space offers a safe and supportive environment for local residents to gather weekly. Visitors can enjoy a free hot meal, participate in activities, and connect with others in the community. Additionally, the hub provides access to local organisations offering advice on essential topics such as housing, health, and financial support. More recently, the initiative developed at AFCCT has been rolled out across 10 football clubs in Scotland, paving the way for hubs and community support to be set up across the country.

Graeme Christie, VP of HSEEQ at Dolphin Drilling, comments on the visit:

"Visiting the Pittodrie Community Hub was a great chance to see firsthand the impact AFCCT has on the local community and reinforced why this partnership is so important. The Hub provides a vital space for people to come together, receive support, and access essential services. It was inspiring to witness how AFCCT’s work extends beyond football, truly changing lives. As a company, we are proud to support an initiative that creates inclusion, wellbeing, and resilience in the community, and I really look forward to seeing how Dolphin Drilling and AFC Community Trust continue working together to support and uplift the community."

AFCCT Business Development & Partnership Manager Duncan Peter states,

“Having Dolphin Drilling on board as a partner for 2025 is fantastic for Aberdeen FC Community Trust. As a charity with a wide range of programmes that cover participants of all ages, we are excited to be the charity of the year and engage with the team at Dolphin Drilling to both raise funds and awareness of the impact our work has across the North East.”

What to Expect Throughout the Year

Our partnership with AFCCT will encompass a range of fundraising events, volunteer opportunities, and awareness campaigns. Employees will have the chance to get involved through:

  • Sponsored Walks, Runs, and Corporate Events: Supporting health and wellbeing initiatives in national fundraising events.
  • Volunteering Days: Providing employees with the opportunity to make a hands-on difference by volunteering for various initiatives with AFCCT.
  • Donations: Raising money through different office activities such as bake-offs.

We are excited about the journey ahead and the positive impact we can make together.
